6 Days Mountain Gorilla Trek

Day 1: Arrival Entebbe,

Lake Victoria glimmers softly as it cascades towards the horizon, the sunset light bringing a range of fresh hues to call time on your first day in Uganda. After being greeted at Entebbe International Airport, you’ll be transferred to Protea Hotel by Marriott Entebbe – This luxurious 4 star resort hotel is ideally located on the glistening shores of Lake Victoria and a convenient 1km from the Entebbe airport. Protea Hotel Entebbe offers a wide variety of services & amenities including a restaurant that offers an exciting and truly inviting a la carte menu 7 days of the week. Specialties include Tilapia and Nile Perch, while guests can also relax on the terrace and bar. It’s a hotel that complements your travel style. With elegant furnishings and a warm, inviting feel, the hotel’s decor and rooms create a luxurious atmosphere. The outside terrace, with its own special ambiance and superb lake views is the perfect place to take it all in.

Days 2-3: Transfer Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Accommodation: Buhoma Lodge – Fullboard
You will be transferred from Entebbe Town to Entebbe Airport for your flight to Kihihi. On arrival you will be transferred from Kihihi Airstrip to Buhoma Lodge. Buhoma Lodge, an intimate and charming property that commands spectacular and uninterrupted views of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, home to the rare and elusive Mountain Gorilla. One of only two lodges situated within the National Park, within a short walking distance from the meeting point for gorilla tracking and other activities in the Buhoma area. An elevated central area, complete with lounge, bar and dining area, offers a cosy, comfortable environment to discuss the day’s activities around the fireplaces which add atmosphere and warmth in the cool evenings.

Mountain gorillas are wild animals and, as such, sightings cannot be guaranteed. However viewing success rates are over 90%. Once sighted, visitors are allowed an hour with the gorillas. Overnighting in Bwindi is required the night before tracking due to your early morning start. As tracking can sometimes take a full day, a second nights accommodation is also highly recommended. Ideally 2 to 3 nights are suggested to enjoy this region. Over the next two days you will have the opportunity for two Gorilla Treks (with prior booking). Other activities that can be enjoyed in and around the park include forest walks, visits to a local school or orphanage or Batwa pygmy village, and curio shopping.

Days 4-5: Transfer Queen Elizabeth National Park

Accommodation: Ishasha Wilderness Camp
Depart Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for Queen Elizabeth National Park. Upon arrival you will check in at the famous Ishasha Wilderness Camp. Ishasha Wilderness Camp is situated within the Southern Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park on the Ntungwe river, an idyllic retreat for people who truly enjoy the wild. This exclusive camp blends the magic of a wilderness tented camp with superb service in this unspoilt and remote region of the National Park. The Ishasha savannahs are famous for its population of tree climbing lions that can sometimes be spotted resting in the branches of the large fig trees. Being within the park the wildlife is free to also pass through the camp and elephants can be seen bathing in the river, buffalo enjoy grazing and resident troops of Black-and-White Colobus and vervet monkeys are frequently viewed.

The park has a variety of Flora and Fauna and it’s acknowledged to be a habitat for over 95 mammal species with about 612 species of birds. The various species in this park, has made it a unique park most liked by tourists. Geographers will say that the park has around 57 vegetation but in actual sense, it has five levels of vegetation. Namely bushy grassland, Acacia woodland, Lakeshore or swamp vegetation along with forest grassland. Overnight Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 6: Depart, Transfer Entebbe

Optional: Meals/Dayroom
After breakfast, transfer to Entebbe. A representative will meet you. Depending on your international flight, you have the option of doing optional lunch/dinner or dayroom. Later on you will be transferred tot he airport for your onward flight.
